Edmond police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman suspected of spending counterfeit checks in stores around the metro area.

“They’re not stolen checks,” Edmond Police Department Public Information Officer Emily Ward said. “They were created to match a counterfeit fake ID. That’s how anyone like this is able to come in, and it looks like it’s legitimate to the cashier.”

A momentary slip-up by the suspect’s friend may contain a clue.

Officers said in June, the suspect allegedly targeted the Mardel in Edmond.

A man was captured on camera with the woman.

Although the man is not a suspect, he did pull down his mask momentarily, revealing his entire face to security cameras.

Officers put the photo on social media, hoping someone can identify the pair.

Although police said the man is innocent, investigators think he may be able to help them find the woman.

Anyone with tips on who the man or woman are can call the Edmond Police Department at 405-359-4447.
