A second Mustang High School student-athlete and Mustang High School assistant football coach have both tested positive for COVID-19. The news was confirmed by Mustang Public Schools in a Sunday evening press release.
The athlete, who the district said is a football player, last participated in a Friday practice. However, the football player cleared the screening process for participation without showing a fever or any other symptom.
The district later learned that an assistant football coach also tested positive for COVID-19. The assistant coach, who visited Texas over the weekend, learned of his positive test "upon going to a medical facility for non-emergency care."
The coach last participated in football practice Wednesday.
Summer activities for the Mustang football program have been suspended for the next 14 days.
