Oklahoma City police said one person was found dead on the metro’s northwest side early Saturday morning.

It started as a reported shooting on Friday which turned into a standoff that lasted several hours.

“I was across the street and I heard a loud explosion,” resident Phillip Ferguson said. “I didn’t know for sure if it was a gunshot or not.”

Police responded to a 911 call yesterday afternoon near Northwest 11th Street and Portland Avenue.

The caller told police someone had been shot.

“Now, in terms of the events leading up to those shots being fired, we don’t know the exact event right now,” OCPD Sgt. Jeff Dutton said. “Officers made it on scene and determined it was domestic related.”

Officers attempted to make contact with 64-year-old Robert Churillio who barricaded himself inside the home.

“I was coming down to come see what my mom was up to with my sister and all of a sudden, when I’m coming down here, I see a whole bunch of cop cars everywhere,” resident Brianna Pyle said.

Instead of surrendering, police said Churillio then fired several shots at officers. One officer suffered minor injuries.

After several hours of negotiations, the standoff ended with Churillio in custody.  His booking photos shows visible injuries of his own.

Once inside the home, police discovered the body of a woman. The woman is believed to be Churillio's sister.
