Hungry Camels Give Oklahoma Family An Unforgettable Experience

We all know animals can be unpredictable, but that's when some of the funniest memories are made. Which was the case with an El Reno family who took a trip to Oklahoma's Arbuckle Wilderness Park where they met some very hungry camels. 

Cell phone video shows the camels at the Arbuckle Drive-Thru Safari gave Nathan Pugh and his family. a lot to laugh about.

“It was crazy. It was so fun,” said Nathan. 

It started with a slobbery camel that snatched a cup of treats straight out of Nathan's hands. His wife Kelsi, son  Bostyn and daughter Ryan can be heard in the background laughing hysterically.

“He took it -- and then he bit my finger a little bit,” Nathan said.

Then the came moves to the back window where Nathan's 7-year-old daughter sat with another cup full of camel food.

“It took my cup. It got my shirt,” said Ryan. “I was like, ‘What is it doing?' and I was like, 'Ahhhhh,’” Ryan said.

Her mom's cell phone video shows Ryan didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so she did both.

“At first I was laughing at my dad and then I was crying because it was scaring me,” Ryan said.            

But her fear went away quickly when they found a few different camels.

“Look these ones are nice ones, huh,” Ryan’s mom said from behind the camera.

But not so fast, they’re hungry and maybe thirsty, too, as one reached for a drink sitting in a cup holder.

The kids and their mom are laughing and screaming for Nathan to drive while the camel chewed on a lid inside the family’s truck.

“All of us thought it ate the lid, but it dropped it,” said Ryan.

“She's telling me to drive and I have half a camel in front of me,” said Nathan.      

They eventually got the camels out of the truck and out of the way, so they headed over to the emus.

Ryan and her brother were all smiles, there -- until the bird takes a bite of Ryan's finger.

You can her Ryan’s mom yell, ‘go, go, go’ as Ryan started to cry, but her tears didn't stick around long there either.

“All the donkeys loved me because I was nice to them,” she said. “I saw like a deer and like horses in the water swimming and I saw like a lot of turtles.”              

The other animals made her feel better, but the ornery ones are what made the memories that will last a lifetime.

“And then we was about to leave and then my dad said, 'Ryan, you'll remember this forever,’” Ryan recalled.

And her dad agrees, it’s a trip they’ll never forget and they’re already planning another trip back.
