A violent past, drugs, and mental instability are a few of the reasons the Grady County Sheriff's Department said deputies could not convince a man to surrender during a standoff.

The standoff happened at home just north of Alex. The sheriff says Michael Dillon Brewer barricaded himself inside the home just before 5:00 a.m. Thursday.

Chickasha Police were looking for Brewer last night after his girlfriend claims Brewer tried to strangle her.

The sheriff says Brewer arrived at his parents home Thursday morning and hit his stepfather in the face with a gun and later fired one shot.

Before any of this occurred, Brewer left a suicide note on his Facebook page around 1:00 a.m. Thursday.

The sheriff says Brewer's mother made the call for help a few hours later and told deputies Brewer was high on meth and armed with a gun.

The sheriff says they determined just after 1:00 p.m. Thursday Brewer killed himself inside the home.

The sheriff said Brewer had a violent past and struggled with drug and mental issues.

Brewer also appeared on the A&E television show "Intervention" during season three because his mother worried Brewers addiction to meth would not end well.
