OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City police officer who was critically injured in a bar fight is recovering. Officer Chad Peery's condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.
The fight left Peery paralyzed from the neck down. Fortunately since the attack, his family said Peery has begun to move his arms.
The entire community is pulling together to help Peery. Tuesday, Jason's Deli raised nearly $1,000 for him and more fundraisers are in the works.
On March 12, the Henry Hudson's Pub on 58th Street and Portland Avenue is having a benefit auction starting at 7 p.m. Then on April 8, The Mount Saint Mary High School Alumni Association, where Officer Peery attended school, is holding an auction at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
The bar where Peery was injured, Dan O'Brien's, also held a benefit over the weekend and raised about $20,000.
