Both of the so-called "Personhood" initiatives have died in the Oklahoma legislature, but supporters of the idea haven't given up.

House leadership announced Thursday that Senate Bill 1433 would not be given a floor hearing in the state House of Representatives.

Another bill introduced in the House early in the session was never given a hearing.

State Rep. Mike Reynolds (R-Moore), who introduced the House Bill, says he and two others are circulating petitions to put the measure up for a vote of the public.

The ACLU is challenging the initiative in the Oklahoma Supreme Court. The controversial bill has drawn national attention. Some supporters of the Senate Bill say they believe it was not given a hearing because it presented an image problem for the state.
