Authorities in Garland County, Arkansas, have located a Bull Mastiff that bit and killed a 5-year-old boy whose family home was destroyed by the May 20 tornado in Moore.
THV 11 in Little Rock reports the boy and his family were staying with friends in the town of Jessieville.
According to a police report, the boy became upset Saturday afternoon and threw a tantrum.
While a family friend was trying to calm him down, the dog came in from another room and attacked the boy.
The woman said she tried to pry the two apart, but could not. She called her husband for help. By the time he arrived at the house, the woman had managed to separate the child and the dog.
An ambulance rushed the boy to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The child's name has not been released.
Investigators were unable to locate the dog over the weekend, but found him Monday afternoon. The dog is expected to be euthanized. It's not known if the owners will be charged.
