A Minco police officer is stabbed during an incident near Tuttle on Tuesday.

According to law enforcement, a mental patient called the Grady County Sheriff's Office claiming he was the Anti-Christ and going to burn his house down with his family inside. A Minco Police officer called and offered to assist deputies on the call.

The Minco officer first arrived on the scene, which is located along HW 37 five miles west of Tuttle. The officer made contact with the suspect, Russell Mason. According to the sheriff's department, the suspect attacked the officer with a knife, stabbing him twice, once in the shoulder and once in the back of the head.

The Minco officer attempted to use a Taser on Mason but it didn't work, so he opened fire on him, hitting him in the leg.

Deputies arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. The officer and the suspect both suffered non-life threatening injuries. The Minco Police officer's name is not being released upon the request of his chief.
