Police are searching for a suspect after one man died in an overnight stabbing in northwest Oklahoma City.
According to Captain Nate Tarver with the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers were called to the area of N.W. 10th Street and N. Klein Avenue around 12:39 a.m. Sunday. When police arrived, they found a black, male victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
Captain Tarver said the victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the incident started at an apartment building near N.W. 9th Street and N. Klein Avenue, where a masked man entered an apartment and started an altercation with the victim.
Police said there were no direct witnesses to the altercation, but there were other people in the building who saw the victim chase the suspect out of the apartment.
"Apparently the victim, who may have been stabbed at that point, chased his assailant out of the building as he ran to [10th and Klein] where the victim collapsed," Captain Tarver said.
Officers are not sure what led to the altercation at the apartment complex, and Captain Tarver said one witness was detained for questioning.
The suspect is described as a shirtless, black male, wearing blue jeans and a bandana or mask across his face.
