A metro man said the police saved his life, and with only seconds to spare.

An intruder had a gun in his face and was threatening to pull the trigger.

As a countdown began, police busted through the door.

This family said early Thursday morning, three men busted into their home and it came out of nowhere. Five victims, ranging from the ages of 24 to 58 tell police they did not know the suspects and had never seen them before. Three of them were pistol whipped and forced to lay on the floor.

It was about 12:40 a.m. Thursday when chaos erupted inside the NE Oklahoma City home in the 2700 block of N. Coltrane Rd.

“He was searching for something that wasn't here,” said Dale Lewis. “There was nothing I could say to stop him from doing what he was about to do.”

Lewis was awakened by violent commotion going on inside the home.

“I mean, you could just hear them beating them. They was brutal,” said Lewis.

Lewis called 911.

He stayed on the phone until police said, 21-year-old Deondre Reece kicked in his bedroom door. Police said Reece forced Lewis and another person to strip naked and stand in a corner against the wall.

“And they found some money that I had misplaced inside one of the drawers and they said, you're playing with us, you're holding out. Put the gun, pistol to my head, and said, you've got four seconds to tell me where the money is at, or I'm going to blow your face off,” said Lewis.

Dale said at that moment, police showed up.

“And when he said two, the police officer opened up the door. He said, it's the police, and he dropped the pistol,” said Lewis.

Dale said  he believes the officer's timing may have saved not only his life, but the life of four other victims.

Police said suspect Shaquille Mayes was standing on the front porch when he saw the officers. He ran back inside and jumped out of a window before officers arrested him.

Police found Reece hiding in a bathtub.

“Why did they come to his house, to this address, to torture the people inside this house. For what reason?” Lewis asked.

Mayes and Reece were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on charges of robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Police said they are still looking for a third suspect.
