Authorities: Officer Injured While Pursuing Burglary Suspects In NW OKC

An officer was injured while pursuing a burglary suspect in northwest Oklahoma City, Tuesday afternoon.

According to authorities, an officer was injured in the 2800 block of W. Park Pl. when 26-year-old twin brothers, Tremaine and Jermain Williams, broke into a house shortly after 2 p.m. Nobody was home at the time and when police showed up the suspects took off running.

The two responding officers, a rookie and a field training officer, were separated during the foot chase. That's when the suspects took away the rookie's baton and started beating him with it. Police say despite the injuries to his head, the officer managed to get back up and continue to chase the suspects.

One suspect was taken into custody in a driveway. The other broke into a nearby house where he was eventually taken into custody.

Soon after the suspects mother, Claudine Williams, showed up on scene, "Enough is enough, and if one of my kids get shot it's not gonna be nice."

The injured officer was rushed to the hospital with head injuries suffered from the baton strikes. Nobody else was hurt. Police say the injured officer is expected to make a full recovery.
