Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of assaulting a woman and then abandoning her child at an Oklahoma City apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, officers responded to the report of a child found wandering around at an apartment complex near the 4000 block of N. Drexel Blvd. When officers arrived, they found the little boy sitting by the apartment mailboxes. The boy is about two years old.
Through investigation, officers learned that 28-year-old Jamelle Thompson assaulted the child's mother to the point that she was unconscious. Thompson then took the child and fled.
Police said Thompson dumped the child off at the apartment complex and drove away.
Warrants have been issued for Thompson's arrest. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at (405)-235-7300.
Thompson's new warrants are for first-degree rape, kidnapping, domestic by strangulation, domestic assault and battery and larceny of a vehicle after former felony convictions.
His older warrants include domestic abuse after a former felony conviction, and failure to appear on possession of CDS charges.
