For the first time in a week, exhausted first responders working around the clock to fight wildfires in northwest Oklahoma were able to take advantage of improving conditions.

Firefighters have been working non-stop to get things under control as the wildfires continue.

Behind these fires are the men and women working to get the upper hand, many of them going with little to no sleep or food.

The Rhea fire which has covered much of Dewey County, has now scorched more than 283,000 acres, according to the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management.

The 34 Complex fire has mostly affected Woodward County and has burned more than 67,000 acres.

Much of the livestock that grazed those pastures were either injured or killed.
