The Oklahoma City School Board deserves credit for hiring a superintendent with the vision to overhaul the struggling school district, and for supporting his plan unanimously.
I said Monday night Dr. Sean McDaniel showed great leadership closing 15 under-used schools, something the 14 superintendents before him didn't do.
Here's what you had to say:
We start with Jenni from Mustang, "Very well said Mr. Ogle. I agree 100 percent."
Shelly went to Oklahoma City schools and writes, "I hate seeing neighborhood schools close, but I must face it, the good old days are gone. I hope they let this fellow do his job, he has a very hard one to do. But I do think he is on the right track."
Marie in Del City says, "...this should be done statewide, and OKC shouldn't be the only one to be culled out."
Kevin in Bridge Creek agrees, "Hopefully other districts will see this and consolidate. Would be nice to end the more taxes approach, and actually balance budgets and save us all money, while giving kids better education."
Finally, David says of Oklahoma City's new superintendent, "We really need his leadership statewide. I hope he runs for State Superintendent."
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's Your 2 Cents.
