Lacey Swope's Caramel Apple Pie

  • 5 apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith ?? )
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons apple pie spice (pumpkin pie spice)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into cubes
  • 5-6 teaspoons prepared caramel dipping sauce
  • 2 refrigerated pie crusts
  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Press the bottom pie crust in the bottom of a pie pan.
  3. In a medium-size bowl add sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and apple pie spice.
  4. Toss together to make sure all of the apples are coated with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the bottom of the pan.
  6. Add 5-6 tablespoons of dipping caramel sauce to the top of the pie.
  7. Sprinkle cubes of butter on top of the apples.
  8. Add either a top crust or a lattice crust over the top of the apples.
  9. If you are using a full top crust, make sure and cut slits in the top so the steam can escape while baking.
  10. Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  11. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
