Lacey Swope's Caramel Apple Pie
- 5 apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith ?? )
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons apple pie spice (pumpkin pie spice)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into cubes
- 5-6 teaspoons prepared caramel dipping sauce
- 2 refrigerated pie crusts
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Press the bottom pie crust in the bottom of a pie pan.
- In a medium-size bowl add sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and apple pie spice.
- Toss together to make sure all of the apples are coated with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Pour the apple mixture into the bottom of the pan.
- Add 5-6 tablespoons of dipping caramel sauce to the top of the pie.
- Sprinkle cubes of butter on top of the apples.
- Add either a top crust or a lattice crust over the top of the apples.
- If you are using a full top crust, make sure and cut slits in the top so the steam can escape while baking.
- Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
