A Stillwater man is accused of fracturing his girlfriend’s skull with a hammer.

47-year-old Jesus Valdez Bravo has been charged with domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, after he was arrested early Tuesday morning.

Dispatchers didn’t have a lot of details, just the 911 mapping that indicated the call was made somewhere inside the Stonegate At Stillwater apartments located near North Boomer Road and West Brooke Lane.

Just before 1 a.m. Tuesday morning dispatchers received a call from a woman whose name has not been released.

“He just hit me in the head with a hammer and I’m bleeding,” the victim said in her 911 call.

She didn't know her address and couldn't give her location before the call disconnected.

A callback attempt to the woman's phone went to voicemail.

“The dispatcher started digging for information using all the resources, searching our system. Calling the phone service provider, to try to track down the owner of the phone,” Captain Kyle Gibbs with the Stillwater Police Department said.

While the dispatcher's search continued, officers arrived at the apartment complex to try and pinpoint the exact location of the victim. One of the responding officers was familiar with the woman's name and apartment but found the victim’s apartment vacant.

“Some helpful neighbors informed him that she and her boyfriend had moved across the complex. And they pointed him in the right direction,” Gibbs said.

Police found the woman and Bravo. He was quickly taken into custody.

“We were able to develop enough probable cause that he was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon,” Gibbs said.

The victim had blunt force trauma to the back of her head, and was treated for a skull fracture, before being released from Stillwater Medical Center.

Bravo now faces up to 10 years in prison, or a year in Payne County Jail if convicted.
