Seven Green Country kids are grieving after their parents died in a car crash at 41st and Yale.

On Monday, David and Kelli Fullerton’s car collided with a pickup as they were turning left onto Yale from 41st Street.  Police say they don’t yet know what caused the collision, whether it was speed or a failure to yield.

“I’ll tell you this, if there is such a thing as soul mates, it is definitely them,” said Cheryl Figueroa, a relative of the Fullertons.

The love story between David and Kelli started more than two decades ago.

“The thing about them is, I don’t think you could pretty much any time run into one without seeing the other, right down to the night of that horrible accident,” said Figueroa.

The family says the couple loved to play bingo and that David, with a contagious sense of humor, couldn’t walk into a room without cracking a joke, while Kelli managed to keep a calm, cool demeanor, despite the chaos of raising seven children.

“I think the thing that I’m most impressed with is not just that they are the parents of these seven beautiful kids, but they have such a vibrant relationship with them,” Figueroa said.  “These kids daily were in contact with both mom and dad.”

“Every time you have a milestone, every time you have a moment where you think, ‘Oh, I want to tell dad,’ or ‘Oh, mom would love,’ you are going to have to stop and feel that pain, every time,” said Figueroa.  “That is a heartbreak that doesn’t ever stop hurting.”

The couple’s children say they are now trying to give their parents the funeral they would have wanted.

The family says the couple didn’t have a life insurance policy and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help the kids pay for their parents’ funerals.  The family says any other money raised would go to help support the two youngest children.
