2 Inmate Deaths Reported At Oklahoma State Penitentiary

Two inmates have died at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in separate and unrelated incidents, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections reported.

The first inmate was discovered after midnight Wednesday in the maximum-security prison for the men's infirmary. The inmate, who was not identified, was found dead in his bed.

The second death was discovered about 11:30 a.m. Correctional officers found the inmate, who was also not identified, dead inside his cell after his cellmate alerted them.

The corrections department is investigating both deaths.

The state medical examiner's office will determine the causes of deaths. 

Both inmates' names will be released after next-of-kin notifications have been made.
