A movie is coming out that I'm looking forward to seeing even though some groups say they'll be boycotting it.

It's the backstory on Neil Armstrong, the first man to step foot on the Moon, appropriately titled, "First Man".

As Americans out chest swelled with pride when Armstrong took that step onto the Moon. And then again an hour later when he and Buzz Aldrin planted an American Flag into lunar soil.

Well, apparently we won't see the flag planting in the new movie, the director says he wanted to focus on Armstrong's more solitary moments on the Moon.

Actor Ryan gosling, who plays Armstrong, said putting the first man on the moon was "Widely regarded as a human achievement and that's how we choose to view it."

He jokingly told CNN, "I'm Canadian so I might have cognitive bias."

Might?

Some say it's Hollywood globalism run amok. I don't disagree.

The U.S. was in a deadly serious space race with the Soviet Union at the time, and the 400 thousand American scientists, engineers and technicians who worked on Apollo 11 helped win it, and the flag planting on the Moon sealed it.

There had been some discussion, back in 1969, about planting a United Nations banner, but Congress ordered that it would be an American flag because it was an American accomplishment...entirely.

The second man on the Moon, Buzz Aldrin, has made his feelings know by Tweeting a picture of him and Armstrong planting the flag with the hashtag Proud to be an American!
