A new bike means the world to a 4th grader at Mark Twain Elementary in Oklahoma City.

Paige Pangle had been riding a small scooter more than four blocks to get to school. However, a crossing guard tells News 9 she noticed Paige had wrecked her scooter a few times, and feared for the girl’s safety.

Last week, Integris Federal Credit Union President/CEO Michael Davenport learned about Paige’s plight.

Davenport is also a “Reserve” Deputy with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Within a day, Davenport received donations from other law enforcement “types,” who purchased a new bike and helmet for Paige last Thursday at an area Walmart, so she could more safely get to school.

Her mother Victoria Benjamin says she’s very grateful.

“I love this school, it’s been the best school she’s been to.  And I mean everybody is so nice here,” she said.

“I like it!  I like it!” said Paige as she rode her new bike home Tuesday after school.
