Thieves have broken into over a dozen cars, stealing one of them in southern Logan County.
Many of the homes are in North Edmond.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office says the crimes are far from sophisticated. The criminals are preying on the trust of others.
Grainy surveillance images captured the thieves at work.
Logan County Undersheriff Troy Dykes says one person acts as the driver while the other walks from vehicle to vehicle hoping to score.
“They were just going around attempting to open doors,” Undersheriff Dykes said.
For two nights, the thieves covered about six square miles in southern Logan County, hitting various neighborhoods.
“If they were unlocked they would get inside look around, and if nothing was of value they’d move on,” Dykes said.
According to Dykes, the thieves stole anything from spare change to electronics.
“Some of the items that are reported missing is a laptop, couple of iPads, tablets,” Dykes said.
One image captured one of the thieves using a stolen credit card at a gas station.
Investigators believe the thieves were in a white car. They believe they stopped off at a gas station after stealing a car with keys left inside.
Since the burglaries, investigators have increased their patrol. They are encouraging residents to be vigilant, closing garage doors, keeping lights on, and vehicles secured.
“If you could keep your vehicles locked, take you valuables in at night, keep them out of sight,” Dykes said.
During the rash of burglaries investigators say the thieves also got away with a couple of guns.
