A local man may lose his leg after being hit by a woman who was allegedly driving high.

Jason Hearrell is the victim’s father.

“I got a call and they said that he was in an accident and to get there as fast as I could,” Hearrell said.

Jason’s son Cody was taken to the ICU Monday after being pinned between two cars in a Norman crash.

“Looking at the vehicles it was a wonder he lived. It was that bad,” Jason said.

According to family, Cody may lose his leg thanks to the crash.

The driver, Dawn Rodgers, was arrested at the scene and charged with a DUI.

“It makes me angry. I 've never been more angry in my life. It's pathetic really,” Jason said.

A police report shows the suspect showed signs of being on drugs, particularly methamphetamine.

According to records, Rodgers has been arrested numerous times for driving under the influence and trafficking illegal drugs.

Jason can’t believe someone would be careless enough to put his son in harm’s way.

He's 27-years-old and he's got a long life ahead of him, and more than likely there's a good chance he could do this on one leg now,” Jason said.

Jason and the family are raising money for Cody's medical bills on a GoFundMe page.

They’re hoping their story will prevent other people from driving high.

“Just hopefully someone else will take the time and not make the same mistake,” Jason said.

Reports indicate there was a second victim who was knocked off a ladder leaning on a pole during the accident.
