A metro university is hoping to teach potential candidates about the inner workings of municipal government.

Oklahoma City University says current and former civic leaders will make presentations to a class that will be meeting on Saturdays starting next month.

The list includes a city manager, former mayor and the economist OKC uses for predictions.

Anyone with $250 can sign up for the class that will also steam live for students at www.okcu.edu/business/home.

Barbara Young has signed up for the class. The Mustang mom hopes the class puts her in a better position for when she runs for the Mustang School Board again.

“City Council members and school board members are working every day for the benefit of their city and the kids they represent. It’s a lot to learn,” says Young.

The class covers everything from labor relations to campaign finance.

The University says its perfect for anyone thinking about running for public office or those wanting a better understanding of city government.
