Clear Tone and News On 6 hold a contest every year to help a deserving person receive free hearing aids.

They chose three winners this year, a veteran, a police officer, and a firefighter.

Captain Mike Reiss dedicates his life to giving to others. Tuesday, he's on the receiving end after his wife entered him into our contest.

Mike didn't know he was entered, didn't know what his wife wrote about him and couldn't believe he won.

One thing he does know, he has a hearing problem.

"I was actually at home when she got the phone call. And I didn't know what she was talking about till she got off the phone and said it looks like you are going to go and get your hearing checked," Reiss said.

Mike has been helping others and saving lives as a Broken Arrow firefighter for 20 years.

He's a husband, father, and Christian and said he's a true family man.

His wife said he rarely accepts anything for himself and is always putting others first.

Now, Clear Tone is putting him first.

"I'm grateful for these people and this company and the opportunity they are giving me to maybe help me a little bit with this," Reiss said.

Mike said he knew his hearing was declining but still was a little shocked at the test results.

"I could have almost guaranteed you I couldn't hear as good out of my left as I could my right and he said I heard better in my left than my right," Reiss said.

The other two winners, a police officer and a veteran, received their hearing aids on Monday.
