A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning in Lawton, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said.

Shortly before 6:45 a.m., police were responding to a disturbance in the 1400 block of NW Taylor Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a white male with knife leave the apartment. The officers tried to talk to the person and used less than lethal tools, OSBI said.

The male attacked an officer by cutting the officer with the knife. Both officers fired at the male who died at the scene.

The person killed in the officer-involved shooting has not been identified.

One officer was treated and released for multiple knife wounds.

Both officers have been placed on administrative leave. OSBI said they will only release the officers' names if criminal charges are filed against them.
