  • 50 percent increase in adolescent depression over the past 11 years according to the American Academy of Pediatrics
  • Overall a 125 percent increase over the last several decades in the US.
  • Most common situations or life events that might cause suicidal thought are 
    • Grief
    • Sexual abuse
    • Remorse
    • Rejection
    • A relationship break up
    • Financial problems
    • Unemployment
    • Also family history or suicide 
  • Warning signs 
    • Talking about wanting to die or to kill oneself
    • Looking for a way to kill oneself
    • Talking about feeling hopeless or having no reason to live
    • Talking about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain
    • Talking about being a burden to others
    • Increasing the use of alcohol or drugs
    • Acting anxious or agitated; behaving recklessly
    • Sleeping too little or too much
    • Withdrawing or feeling isolated
    • Showing rage or talking about seeking revenge
    • Displaying extreme mood swings

    Crews Battle Fire At Home Under Construction In Jones

    One home under construction went up in flames near Jones, Monday morning. Fire crews reported working under extreme conditions at the scene near 150th Street and Post Road. Of course the fire was hot but when you mix the heavy gear and muggy heat things became even more dangerous.
