Newly released body camera footage captures a short standoff in Pottawatomie County.

Deputies went to the home looking for 50-year old Wesley Tucker, who has since recently been charged with one count of Burglary, two counts of Grand Larceny and one count of Larceny of Domestic Animals/Implements of Husbandry.

On May 25th, the victim of the alleged burglary says he was out of town, but got a message from Tucker.

Tucker had asked to borrow some jumper cables, but when given permission to go to the home deputies say he stole items worth thousands of dollars.

The crime was caught on a home surveillance system.

“Kicks in the door, stealing a few items including a tractor and a four-wheeler,” says Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth.

When the victim returns home, he told investigators that’s when he found.

Deputies follow tire tracks and locate the stolen vehicles that had been crashed into a creek, just short distance away.

Later, a few miles away, deputies use a megaphone to call out to the suspect.

They say they have a history with him and know he had weapons in the home.

“Wesley this is Travis. Hey, grab her phone and pick-it up and call me. I need to talk to you," police said.

Tucker refused to come outside.

Deputies sent up a drone and also call for an armored vehicle response.

Tucker eventually appears and surrenders peacefully.

Drugs were found at the home a short time later according to law enforcement officers.

“Found meth, found guns, found several things there,” says Sheriff Booth.

Tucker admits to officers he took two Xanax before the burglary.

What's worse, deputies say on body camera recording that the victim told law enforcement that he loved Tucker like a brother.

  • Deputy: "Once we found you on video doing what you did, they were crying."
  • Tucker: "I know it broke their heart. I know it broke their heart."

Deputies also say they found several bullet holes inside the home at the time Tucker was arrested.

They believe that damage is unrelated.
