A man accused of robbing a bank in Shawnee was arrested in Mississippi, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Adam J. Steele, 26, was charged in connection with the April 14 robbery of an IBC Bank in Shawnee.
According to a complaint filed in federal court on May 1, a man robbed a bank on N Harrison Avenue in Shawnee and presented a note that read, "give me $10,000, you won't get shot if you give it to me, don't be stupid." According to the complaint, the man left with $2,909 in cash.
Steele was arrested on April 27 in Hernando, Mississippi. He was accused of driving a stolen 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe registered in Oklahoma. Investigators in Mississippi said they found clothing matching the description of robber and a canvas bag when they searched the vehicle.
Steele will be returned to Oklahoma in the coming weeks to make his federal court appearance, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
