The Oklahoma City Fire Department says a driver was rescued from a vehicle Wednesday night after crashing into a creek.

According to the OKCFD, the adult male driver lost control on Lake Hefner Parkway while heading southbound, just south of Hefner Road. The car came to a rest in a creek on the west side of the highway.

The man was still inside his vehicle when firefighters arrived on scene. As water began to fill the vehicle, firefighters instructed the man to get on top of his car. Then, firefighters threw a rope to him and pulled him to safety.

Firefighters said just after the rescue, the car was swept away downstream into a tree.
