BUFFALO, Oklahoma -

Severe weather season officially began in Oklahoma on Tuesday with the first tornado of the year touching down in Harper County.

A tornado warning was issued for Harper County until 6:45 p.m. News 9 StormTrackers Val and Amy Castor, Tom Pastrano and Rob Satkus, Bobby Payne and Marty Logan were all in place near the town of Buffalo, Okla., as the storm developed quickly just after 6 p.m.

It appeared the funnel touched the ground briefly as the storm moved into Kansas. That touch-down has now been confirmed as the first  tornado in Oklahoma in 191 days.
