Oklahoma City Public Schools' acting Superintendent Rebecca Kaye pushed back in Thursday night's meeting when she suggested an alternative to closing schools and the idea was quickly shot down.

"I have to say that if this board is going to micromanage the district in this way and violate the policy that very clearly states that this is the superintendent's role, I do not intend to continue as your acting superintendent," Kaye said.

Prior to that statement, Kaye had presented her plan to split classrooms, meaning two grades in one class.

A plan that would makeup for a $2.5 million funding shortfall.

When a board member made a motion to find the money somewhere else, Kaye said essentially she was being kept from doing what was best for the district.

The motion failed, meaning the plan for split classrooms would move forward.
