The National Weather Service has issued red flag fire warnings for parts of southwest Oklahoma through 9 p.m. Tuesday.

This is in addition to the wind advisory warning in effect for much of western Oklahoma through much of Tuesday.

As usual with a situation of extreme fire danger like this, outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

People are also warned to properly and safely discard their cigarettes.

According to the State Department of Health, nine people have been injured and treated in area hospitals for smoke inhalation and heat-related injuries.

People in communities like Vici are in recovery mode while the threat continues.

The Rhea Fire has now burned more than 246,000 acres, and the 34 complex fire has burned more than 67,000 acres.
