Teachers: OK Lawmakers Going In Late Wednesday Won’t Stop Momentum

Some teacher said they're frustrated by lawmakers' decision to come in late Wednesday, but the momentum hasn't stopped.

The atmosphere outside the Capitol Tuesday was very similar to what it was Monday, and teachers said they are not giving up hope no matter what lawmakers throw at them.

Several Green Country teachers from multiple districts said they were frustrated with the lawmakers going home early, however, they can't give up hope.

The teachers believe that the lawmakers are trying to avoid them or wait them out, but, they said a stunt like this isn't going to stop them.

“They told us to go do our jobs and yet they're not doing their jobs today,” said Oologah teacher Melinda Dell.

Owasso teacher Terry Storjohann said, “When something is going bad in my day, I don't have the privilege of throwing up my hands and saying, ‘I'm going to go home and hide from whatever problem is out there.’ I have to stick it out until the end of the day to see it through for my kids.”

Many teachers said will be back at the Capitol Wednesday. Some districts are even sending buses up later so they can be there until the lawmakers leave Wednesday night.
