Police Use Phone GPS To Track Stolen Vehicle In MWC

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -

A man has been arrested after a short pursuit Tuesday morning in Midwest City.

Authorities said they arrested the suspect around 1:15 a.m. near SE 15th Street and I-35 after pursuing him for a car jacking, that was eventually tracked using a cell phone GPS.

Officials told News 9 the vehicle owner was pulling into her apartment complex when a man came up to her, demanding her car. The victim complied but left her cell phone inside the vehicle. 

Police tracked down the stolen vehicle by tracing the GPS signal from the victims cell phone. 

The suspect realized Air 1 was tracking him, and abandoned the vehicle. Police were able find the suspect, and make the arrest very quickly.
