Prague Mayor Says Thieves Are Targeting Town Cemetery
PRAGUE, Oklahoma - Prague’s mayor says something has to be done about increasing numbers of grave site thefts at the towns’ venerable old cemetery. Prague Cemetery is massive, it dates back to the 1800’s, and is a mile and a half east of town.
Mayor Cliff Bryant says he’s been getting too many reports about Christmas decorations, flowers, and other valuables being stolen from grave sites.
“We think we are one of the best towns in Oklahoma,” said Bryant late Wednesday afternoon. “And this could possibly not be anyone from Prague doing this, but we’re gonna stop this.”
Bryant says he plans to introduce a motion at the next city council meeting to increase police patrols in the area, and maybe look at adding surveillance cameras.
