Firefighters battled a fire Saturday afternoon at a northwest Oklahoma City church.

The fire was reported about 4 p.m. near NW 19 and Meridian Avenue.

Firefighters reported heavy flame coming from the building.

The building, which housed the Calvin Presbyterian Church, was up for sale and was not being used by the congregation. The utilities in the building were shut off.

Firefighters said the fire started in the office/Sunday school area of the building. Multiple fires were found inside the building.

Fire investigators are looking into whether the fire spread or if the fires were set in multiple areas.

Traffic near the building was being rerouted. Motorists were asked to avoid the area if possible.
