Oklahoma City police are trying to identify the man who robbed the same Subway restaurant at gunpoint twice. This happened at the NW 23rd Street location, but the same thing has also been happening at other metro Subways lately.

The man who targeted the NW 23rd Street Subway on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 25 came back again Sunday, Dec. 10. Both times he held the lone employee at gunpoint demanding they put cash in his purple Crown Royal bag.

Surveillance cameras show the man wearing a ski mask that only covers the bottom half of his face, so police believe someone will recognize him. “Each time the suspect was armed with a pistol, goes in, demands cash from the clerk and then eventually leaves,” says MSgt. Gary Knight with Oklahoma City police.

On Nov. 25, the man forced a worker into the freezer before leaving. In the second incident, a different employee was working and he was able to escape to the Taco Bell next door to call 911.

Knight says the suspect, “told the clerk to take him to the safe, that he knew he was the manager and wanted the safe opened. The clerk had to explain to him there’s not a safe and I’m not the manager.”

Someone robbed two other NW Oklahoma City Subways on Sept. 22.

These latest cases are nearly identical to the armed robberies of two Subways in Bethany on Oct. 12. Efren Christon, 38, was identified as that suspect and arrested a week later.

Then a woman robbed a Subway in Arcadia on Nov. 16.

Police believe restaurants like Subway are targeted because they deal mostly in cash and have just a few employees working at a time.

Investigators hope to connect the dots between similar cases to identify a suspect.

“They’ll always look and see if the M.O. from one robbery matches the one from another one,” Knight says. “In these two cases, it’s clear it’s the same suspect robbing the same store."

If you recognize the suspect in the surveillance footage, call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
