The Yukon Police Department received a welfare call early Thursday morning regarding a lost little girl.
News 9 requested the phone call. The caller told police, “My neighbor just came to my house and there was a little girl that is probably three or four years old standing out in the street, wrapped in a blanket. And she says she can’t find her parents.”
Major Mitch Hoskins with the Yukon Police Department said it was near 4th and Birch in Yukon. A neighbor saw the child on the road. She called 911 and stayed with the 4-year-old until police arrived.
Police took the child in the car and drove from house to house until she could identify her home. A relative was inside the house sleeping. Her parents were not home.
Police are grateful the situation ended well. It could have been a lot worse.
Hoskins said, “You can’t take your eyes off of them and please, please don’t leave them alone.”
Per protocol, officers will write a report and forward it to the Department of Human Services.
