Firefighters were called early Tuesday to battle a commercial fire in northwest Oklahoma City.

The fire was reported about 4:55 a.m. near NW 39 and May Avenue. The building was an old female detention center that was in the process of being torn down, firefighters at the scene said.

The building had no power. Firefighters said the cause of the fire appears to be suspicious though they have not been able to go inside to fully investigate.

Firefighters struggled to put out the fire due to fire hydrants in the area lacking water. Tanker trucks were requested to help put out the fire.
