Suspension Lifted For OSU Basketball Player Jeff Carroll

Posted: Updated:
STILLWATER -

Star senior Jeffrey Carroll, the Big 12’s leading returning scorer, is back for Oklahoma State, KOTV Sports Director John Holcomb confirmed.

Carroll was withheld from play indefinitely pending an ongoing review of the program, which was caused by former assistant coach Lamont Evans’ bribery and fraud arrest. Carroll indicated earlier Friday on Twitter that his suspension had been lifted.

Carroll is a preseason All-Big 12 selection after last year’s breakout campaign when he averaged 17.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He had the fourth-best 3-point shooting season by a Cowboy player going 59-for-133 – 44 percent – from deep. Holcomb reports that he will play and likely start against Texas A&M in Brooklyn.

The Pokes have started 3-0 despite Carroll’s absence. Sophomore Brandon Averette leads four players averaging double figures with 14.7 per game. Grad-transfer Kendall Smith adds 12.7 ppg and Tavarius Shine and Thomas Dziagwa chip in 12.0 and 11.7 ppg respectively.
