Will you be serving your Thanksgiving Turkey with a side of politics?

I know, for a lot of people, just the thought of hashing out with relatives on what's going on in Washington DC right now is enough to spoil your appetite.

America is divided, and a couple of researchers say it's affecting Thanksgiving.

They obtained cellphone tracking data on 10 million smartphones from last November, after Donald Trump was elected. They identified the individuals home locations and then tracked them during the Thanksgiving dinner hours. If they weren't at home, they inferred they were eating with relatives.

The researchers then assumed, for the study's sake, that people who lived in precincts that voted for Clinton are all Democrats, and Trump precincts were Republicans.

They found that politically divided families cut their Thanksgiving celebrations short by an average of 20 to 30 minutes, and that Republican voters were more likely to bail on Democratic families than vice-versa.

And in states where the Presidential race was most heated and saturated with political ads like Florida, politically divided families cut their Thanksgiving time together by more than an hour.

Wouldn't surprise me, surprise you?

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
