A Deer Creek 5th grader sent Santa Claus his Christmas list last Thursday. He asked for just two things, and neither one of them was a toy, a piece of clothing, or electronics.

Kolton Harbeson,12, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in March of last year. He asked Santa for what’s called a “Continuous Glucose Monitor,” so he wouldn’t have to stick his finger as many as ten times a day any longer.

Those kinds of monitors cost around $1,500, but the monthly service fee that comes along with them, can be steep.

Kolton also asked Santa for a “Diabetic Service Dog.” Those dogs are trained to notice when a person’s sugar levels are too high or too low.

Kolton’s mother Kiley Harbeson said she’s very proud of her son.

“Of all the things to ask for, that’s what he asked for,” she said.

A GoFundMe page has been established in Kolton Harbeson’s name. Click here if you would like to donate.
