Woman Killed After Rollover Wreck Into SW OKC Drainage Ditch

One person is dead and another seriously injured following a rollover wreck near SW 59th Street and S. Walker Avenue, Tuesday morning.

The crash, apparently involving just the single vehicle, ended with the car upside down in a steep, concrete drainage ditch.

It is unclear how the crash occurred. Authorities tell News 9 there were two passengers in the car, a male and a female. The female passenger was wearing a seatbelt and was seated in the backseat. She had to be extricated from the car.

A male occupant, thought to be the driver, was outside of the vehicle when first responders arrived.

Neither victim has been identified at this time. Both were transported from the scene via ambulance in serious condition. The female victim succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, authorities told News 9 just before 1 p.m.

Authorities had to shut down SW 59th Street in both directions, from Walker Avenue to Harvey Avenue, while crews worked the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
