Cold front brings storms, cool weather to Oklahoma, Arkansas

Posted: Updated:

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Weather forecasters say a storm system that will drop heavy snow in the central Rocky Mountains is expected to bring a change of thunderstorms and much cooler weather to parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas.

The National Weather Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma, says there is slight chance of thunderstorm development Sunday afternoon along an advancing cold front across far eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

Forecasters say the chance of thunderstorms will continue Monday, mainly across western Arkansas. Much cooler weather is forecast for the upcoming work week, with highs mostly in the 40s and 50s and overnight lows near freezing.

The chance for showers will increase on Tuesday and Wednesday. While some thunderstorms may be strong, forecasters say widespread hazardous weather is not expected in the region.
