Julia Benbrook joined the News on 6 team in August of 2017 as the Alert Desk Anchor. Julia was born and raised in Woodward, Oklahoma. She is an Emmy award-winning anchor recognized for her work with MandtVR. While obtaining her degree, Benbrook worked with MandtVR in Los Angeles, California, interned at KWTV in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and reported/anchored for OStateTV.

Julia has conducted interviews with Joan Lunden of Good Morning America, Kenan Thompson and Michael Che of Saturday Night Live, Clark Beckham of American Idol and numerous Oklahoma political figures.

Her work has been recognized by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters in the news feature, sports feature, talent reel, documentary and news magazine categories. She was also the recipient of the OAB Bill Teegins broadcasting scholarship. Benbrook received a national first place from the National Broadcast Society for producing and anchoring a news magazine program over celebrities from Stillwater, OK. She received a national Award of Excellence from the Broadcast Education Association for producing and anchoring “The Cost of Learning” program that digs into the education budget cuts in Oklahoma.

Benbrook graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Multimedia Journalism. She was named the Top Multimedia Production Student, a  Top 10 Freshman Woman, a  Senior of Significance, a Top 10 Arts and Sciences Graduate, and a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Benbrook received the highest campus-wide honor when she was named an Outstanding Senior for her academic achievement, campus involvement and community service.

Julia performed for four years with the OSU pom squad where she was featured on promotional materials, game day tickets and even the souvenir popcorn bowls. Julia served as Miss Oklahoma State University and was named fourth runner-up to Miss Oklahoma. Julia was named Student Philanthropist of the Year by the Women for OSU and has logged over 2,000 hours of community service. Philanthropy has always been important to her and she is always looking for new ways to get involved in the Tulsa community!
