The Copan community spent Friday cleaning damage from a severe storm that blew in Thursday night.

Two families that felt the brunt of the storm said they were surprised how quickly it turned violent.

Keith Addison was changing the tires on his trailer when he saw the storm rolling in. By the time he got into the garage the storm had already turned severe.

In a matter of seconds, summer rains turned into a torrential downpour.

“This noise got real loud and that just didn't sound right, so I turned around as the door blew in on the garage. I tried to run toward the safe room," Addison said.

Addison said something flew towards him and knocked him off his feet.

"I don't even know what knocked me down. I have no idea. My phone went flying into the air," he said.

Now Addison is left to deal with the storm's aftermath - tree limbs are littering the front yard, sticking through his roof into his living room.

There was more damage nearby where a 10,000-pound camper was pushed to its side by powerful winds and broke through the front bedroom of a home.

Thankfully, homeowners Dennis Anderson and his wife weren’t home when the storm hit.

"It was just like a hurricane, I mean, the winds the water just going all over the place," he said.

He eventually got a phone call from a neighbor letting him know about the camper.

"Hey, you probably ought to come home, your camper is on top of your truck," he said.

So far there are no reports of serious injuries, just surreal scenes that show how quickly a typical thunderstorm can turn violent.

The families said the community rallies around one another but rebuilding after the storm will take time.
