The north Tulsa area is a strong community trying to move on despite recent events. On Saturday, University of Tulsa football players and staff from the area took part in helping their community out.

In the north Tulsa clean-up campaign,  many volunteers from around the city came to pick up some trash. Among those were more than 10 Golden Hurricane players who showed up hoping to be part of the solution.

"Stuff like this, I just hope can bring the community together, knock down that perception that they have against young African-American males," said Willie Wright, offensive tackle.

"We're not just out in the streets, doing whatever they think we're doing; there's actually good in each and every one of us."

"I enjoy things like this where we all come together and just do great things to people and a community that needs this type of stuff, so, coming out here and being with my team, my family, it's love," said wide receiver Nigel Carter.
