An Owasso school is paying tribute to a ninth grade teacher who died when police said a distracted driver hit her car. They have a message they hope people will take to heart.

"Drop it and Drive:" words that teachers at Owasso Mid-High say they hope their students never forget.

"It could've been any one of us, and it was her and she didn't do anything to deserve what she got," said Kristi Brska, a ninth grade teacher at Owasso Public Schools.

It's been one year since ninth grade English teacher Bobbi White died in a crash. Police say the driver who hit her was distracted.

White's friend and co worker, Kristi Brska, says the hallways at Owasso Mid-High school just don't feel the same.

"She was very friendly. She would do anything for you," Brska said. "I think it was hard on all of us to come back and to be sitting there eating, knowing that she should be in the particular desk that she always sat in."

After the accident White's mother started the "Drop it and Drive" campaign aimed at teaching students the dangers of distracted driving. And Owasso Mid-High jumped on board.

"I have 1,500 students walking through my building daily, and if we can get that message to those young drivers and them carry that out into our community, I think we've, you know, helped do our part," said Owasso Mid-High Principal Kendal Gann.

On Wednesday, the school dedicated a memorial bench and a hand painted wall mural to that very cause.
