Water rose significantly on the Elk River and was one of several places that experienced a lot of water in a short amount of time in Delaware County.

Butler Bridge, which is off Highway 59 in Grove, was completely washed out by Whitewater Creek.

Residents said it's a brand-new bridge and for some, it's one of the few direct ways to get home.

Saturday afternoon, some people were up on the bridge and a sheriff's deputy had to use his loudspeaker to tell them to get off.

The Grove Fire Department Capt. said as of Saturday evening, they'd received three water rescue calls and one tree on a power line call.

He said they had a trailer home that was taking on water in the Butler but a family that was inside got out safely. He said this amount of water is not normal for them.

"It got pretty bad a couple years ago but not this bad, not so quickly," said GFD Capt. Roman Steed. "The amount of water that has fallen and everything coming out of the banks this quickly. Last time we had a little bit of time to prepare this time not so much."

The Grove Fire department said they do have sandbags ready if people from the city need them.
